Terms of Service

Welcome to Wabi-Sabi Japanese. By creating an account or using our website and learning app (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

1. The Service

Wabi-Sabi Japanese is an online platform for learning Japanese, with lessons aligned to JLPT levels, AI-assisted feedback on what you write, spaced-repetition review, and related features. The Service is currently offered as an early-access beta and is provided “as is” — content and features are still being built out and may change.

2. Accounts

You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information when registering. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

3. Purchases, plans & early access

Some content is free; some requires a paid plan. Prices are shown before purchase and may vary by region.
Paid plans are one-time purchases that unlock the stated levels, including future content we add to those levels during early access (“lifetime updates” for that bundle).
Because some content is still being completed during early access, what’s available may grow over time. Buying early means you get access to that content as it’s released.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Refund requests can be sent to the contact email below; we’ll handle them reasonably and in line with applicable consumer law.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t misuse the Service. In particular, don’t: attempt to scrape, resell, or redistribute our content; abuse, overload, or attack the Service or its AI features; or use the Service for anything unlawful.

5. Content & intellectual property

All lessons, illustrations, characters (including Neko-sensei), and other materials are original and owned by Wabi-Sabi Japanese. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own learning. The Japanese you write remains yours; you grant us permission to process it to provide AI feedback.

6. AI feedback disclaimer

Grading and conversation feedback are generated by an AI system and may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect. They’re a study aid, not a substitute for a certified instructor or an official assessment.

7. Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wabi-Sabi Japanese is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

8. Changes & termination

We may update these Terms or the Service over time; continued use means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Wabi-Sabi Japanese is independent and not affiliated with the official JLPT or the Japan Foundation. Our content is aligned to JLPT levels and prepares you for them; it is not an official exam product.
